Building Shell

Perform energy analyses and thermal load simulations for each building concept in order to optimize the performance. This can include amongst others, aspects like orientation, building fabrics, shading devices, glazed area, ventilation and air conditioning strategies.

Investigate the use of high performance glazing and shading to reduce artificial lighting or study natural ventilation and its effect on energy consumption and heating and cooling requirements, while using actual weather data.

Easily compare the thermal performance of building fabrics and construction types versus SANS 204, SANS 10400-XA, ASHRAE or other standards.

Use the large built-in data base of material types and add your own defined materials and construction types for future use on other project .

Set up special schedules, materials and HVAC types to use as standards in Green Star submission simulations.

Building Energy

Accurate Heating and Cooling system sizing calculations can be performed based on your particular building construction details and design weather data.

Detailed dynamic simulations can be carried out on a sub-hourly basis. Environment and performance data is generated and displayed without needing to run external modules and import data. Some of the salient features are:

  • Output of building energy consumption in a format suitable for energy code compliance reporting
  • Detailed internal loads and system loads reporting
  • Readily available and free EnergyPlus weather files
  • Easy-to-use schedules to control building and system operation times and levels
  • Sophisticated lighting and shading control options
  • Large data base of system templates, material and construction types, shading devices etc.
