Our main analysis tools for building energy simulation are EnergyPlus and DesignBuilder. For acoustic analysis, we use ASAT v 2.1 - a frequency analysis program that was developed in-house.

EnergyPlus

• EnergyPlus is the latest U.S. DOE building energy program for modeling building heating, cooling, lighting, ventilating and other energy flows. It is an extremely powerful simulation engine which can calculate building performance on sub-hourly intervals.
• Standard weather file are used to determine time-dependant environmental conditions.
• Amongst many other functions, it also performs advanced fenestration calculations including controllable window blinds, electro chromic glazing etc. and pollution calculations.

DesignBuilder

• DesignBuilder serves as an elegant and efficient interface with EnergyPlus. It combines rapid building modeling and ease of use with state-of-the-art dynamic energy simulation.
• DesignBuilder can be used to evaluate the effect of different facade options on energy use, model lighting control and optimize use of natural light.
• It can perform simulation of naturally ventilated buildings and size HVAC equipment.
